Last week, Marsa played against Tunisian team Carthage CC in a two-game series at the oval.

The opener was a 20-over format and the visitors batted first, collecting 111 runs.

James Waters top scored off the bat with 23 runs which included four boundaries. Extras were the highest score for Carthage though with 25.

Sixteen runs came off the blade of Arun, 15 from John Phillips and Hemant chipped in with 13.

For the home side, Sid Anand and Ravi Sharma took two wickets each.

Despite Carthage’s modest score, Marsa struggled to win this match and they only got the required runs needed for victory with three balls to spare.

Marsa benefited from 25 extras as Niraj Khanna steadied the innings with a 35. Frank Spiteri made 15 and Pendelbury 12.

Sarat was the pick of the Carthage bowlers, taking three wickets.

The visitors batted first in the second match. This time, they produced a better batting display in a 40-over game.

G. Bradley played a superb innings, hitting 49 runs which included nine boundaries.

Phillips was among the runs with 34, L. Waters was 27 not out, Sumesh 23 and D. Wilson 19.

Carthage were bowled out for 189 runs.

For Marsa, Andrew Naudi took four wickets and Sean Byrne two.

The locals had a poor batting display. Carthage relied on the bowling of Panraj, Hemant and Krishna who took three wickets each, G. Bradley claiming the other.

Only Singh put up any kind of resistance. He was 35 not out as Carthage won the game to square the series.

Carthage CC were the 16th touring team this year at Marsa and eight more are scheduled to arrive this summer.

So far, Marsa CC played 36 games and had 17 wins. There was one drawn match.

Nowell Khosla is top run scorer with 387 and Mike Caruana leads with 22 wickets.
