Environment Minister Leo Brincat yesterday accused the previous Nationalist administration of having tied down the government and his ministry for a number of years when it entered into a contract with a company that leased cars.

A total of 24 vehicles were leased under the contract in question.

Answering a question by Opposition MP Jason Azzopardi, Mr Brincat said that other calls were issued for the lease of 11 vehicles according to established financial procedures. Another contract for a particular vehicle was extended.

Earlier, other ministers said they had leased 31 cars from the same company.

Sources told Times of Malta the company in question was Burmarrad Commercials.
