I visit Valletta frequently to attend theatre, restaurants and other events in the evenings. The white electric cabs cease to operate after 8.30pm.

The government is trying to prepare our city to become European cultural capital in 2018 and, therefore, bring it alive. Most areas are now residential parking only, reserved for government officials or pedestrianised.

It can be difficult to get the elderly or disabled near a venue. Why is it that these cabs cease to operate at that hour?

I have written to the company concerned and they say their divers are subject to abuse if they drive in the evenings.

I have also written to the local council, which says there is nothing it can do as it is a private company. Transport Malta would also appear disinterested.
