Rowen Muscat will continue his playing career in Hungary next season after the Malta midfielder agreed to join newly-promoted side Dunaujvaros.

The 23-year-old Malta midfielder was a free agent after he refused to sign a new contract with Birkirkara as he sought a move away from the BOV Premier League.

Earlier this month, Muscat seemed to be on his way to join Bosnian side FK Olimpik Sarajevo but contract talks appeared to have reached an impasse.

Officials from Dunaujvaros made an approach for Muscat and the young midfielder agreed terms to start a new chapter of his career in the Hungarian top division.

Dunaujvaros are currently preparing for their return to the Hungarian top flight after several years.

Last season they won promotion to the OTP Bank Liga when they finished as runners-up to Nyiregyhaza.
