Whenever some new invention comes about, there is a negative reaction from its competition. We have seen this happening over and over again. What didn’t they say when mobile phones, microwaves, margarine and artificial sweeteners entered the market?

I still remember when the Biro was introduced, a rumour was spread that if this was used in O and A level exams, the candidate would fail.

Now there is a war going on between genetically modified organisms and organic farming.

I suggest that when a new creation is about to enter the market, an estimate is made of the cost to its competitors.

The new product or service will then have to pay compensation to these companies until they diversified into something new.

Employees of the impacted companies should be re-employed by the new company or compensated until a new job is found for them.
