Żebbuġ Rangers are continuing to strengthen their squad after reaching agreement with Valletta to sign striker Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza and defender Yessous Camilleri on a season-long loan.

Mifsud Triganza, who only joined Valletta from Birkirkara last summer, is one of the most experienced Maltese forwards in the Premier League while Camilleri is returning to Żebbuġ having played for the club on loan in the second half of last season.

Rangers, who secured pro-motion to the Premier League as runners-up to Division One champions Pietà Hotspurs, have already acquired Nigerian striker Obinna Obiefule, formerly of Hibernians, and Argentine midfielder Matias Muchardi from Sliema Wanderers.

Valletta, winners of the pre-season Euro Cup, are expected to complete the signing of Hugo Faria who arrived on Friday.

The 31-year-old Portuguese midfielder played for Greek club Kalloni last season after a long spell with Enosis Neon Paralimni in Cyprus.

UAE defender Hamed Alka-mali, who figured for Valletta in the Euro Cup, has also agreed a one-year contract with the Citizens who have been drawn against Azeri side Qarabag in the Champions League.

Birkirkara, who have recruited midfielder Edmond Agius and a host of new foreigners ahead of their Europa League ties against Hungary’s Diosgyori, are also interested in Nigerian striker Charles Newuche.

The 29-year-old has had spells in Ukraine and Moldova.

Rowen Muscat is currently in talks over a move to a Hungarian club. The Malta midfielder has not signed a new contract with Birkirkara as he is determined to continue his career overseas.

A few weeks ago, Muscat, 23, had high hopes of joining Bosnian club FK Olimpik Sarajevo but discussions appear to have stalled.
