Delicata wines have just received another three international awards at the 2014 Decanter World Wine Awards held recently in London. Judging of the 15,007 wines was carried out by 224 specialist tasters from around the world, including 66 Masters of Wine and 18 master sommeliers.

Delicata won a bronze medal for the 2013 Gran Cavalier Sauvignon Blanc − the third medal this wine has been awarded this year − a bronze medal for the 2012 Grand Vin de Hauteville Moscato and a commendation for the 2013 Medina Rosé Grenache. In the last few months, Delicata has received eight international awards from competitions in Verona, London and Bordeaux, bringing the winemaker’s total medal count up to an impressive 92 awards.

The four wines which won the eight awards this year are: 2013 Gran Cavalier Sauvignon Blanc DOK Malta which has won two bronze medals at the International Wine Challenge (IWC) and the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) held in London and a Gran Menzione at the Concorso Enologico Internazionale in Verona, Italy.

The 2013 Medina Rosé Grenache picked up two awards: a bronze medal at the Challenge International du Vin in Bordeaux, France and a commendation at the DWWA. Another IGT Maltese Islands Rosé wine to pick up a commendation at the IWC was the 2013 Pjazza Regina Rosé made from a blend of Syrah and Carignan. Finally, Delicata’s sweet liqueur wine, 2012 Grand Vin de Hauteville Moscato, DOK Malta, picked up a bronze medal and a commendation at the DWWA and the IWC respectively.

Emmanuel Delicata is a fourth generation family-run winemaking company that was established in 1907. These latest eight international awards are particularly rewarding for the Delicata family as the wines are the result of Matthew Delicata’s very first ‘solo’ vintage as the company’s winemaker.
