A lawyer representing the family of murder victim Matthew Zahra, Dr Stefano Filletti, has filed a request for the Magistrates Court to appoint an expert to identify Mr Zahra’s remains so that the burial can take place in an “honourable” way.

The remainswere found in Qajjenza last year along with animal remains. Mr Zahra had been reported missing in August 2012.

The appeal was filed by Dr Filletti during the compilation of evidence against his alleged killers, Jason Galea 39, and Ronald Urry, 49.

They are undergoing separate proceedings for the double murder of father and son Mario Camilleri Snr and Jnr.
