CALLEJA. On June 22, TONY of Valletta, residing in Pietà, aged 71, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Anna, his son Chris and wife Josianne, his daughter Daniela and husband Chris Fitzpatrick, his grandchildren Luca, Rachel and Neil, his sister Lina and husband Alfred, his brother David and wife Josephine, his in-laws, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said at Fatima Sanctuary, Guarda­mangia tomorrow at 9.30am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Special thanks to the dedicated staff at the Renal Unit, Surgical Ward 2, and Hospice Malta.

FENECH. On June 21, VICTOR, of Mosta, aged 83, passed away peacefully at the residence of his sister Mary comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brothers and sisters Tessie, Lawrence, Mary and Joseph, their respective spouses and families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 3.30pm for St Mary’s parish church, Mosta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 4pm followed by interment at the Mosta Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

GRIMA. On June 21, at Karin Grech Hospital, Pietà, Maria née Ragonesi, widow of Harry, in her 81st year, after a six-month illness, bravely borne with Christian fortitude. Adored mother to Hugh, Kenneth and his wife Joanna, Jacqueline and her husband Ivan, Mary-Anne and her husband Anthony, JoJo and his wife Veronica, Rowena, Christian and his wife Lara; loving grandmother to Krystyna and her husband Jeremy, Peter, Sarah, Michael, Andrea, Marcus, Julia, Philip, David, Martina, Julian, Alexandra, Edward, Nicholas, Harry, Fynn and George; doting great-grandmother to Sebastian and Alexandra. Deeply mourned also by her brother Victor, her sisters Joan and Margaret, her brother-in-law Enzo and his wife Sara, her sisters-in-law Tania, Mary, Josephine, Miriam, Margaret and Clare, her numerous nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège shall leave Karin Grech Hospital tomorrow at 1.30pm for the Carmelite church in Balluta, St Julian’s, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2pm, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Heartfelt gratitude to all the dedicated doctors, nurses and carers who nursed her so lovingly throughout her illness. We thank God for her life and her love. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

TONNA. On June 22, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANTHONY (Iż-Żożi), of Sliema, widower of Alice, aged 97, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his daughter Marika Warrington and her husband David, Adrian and his wife Maria, his grandchildren Matthew and his wife Adriana, Nicholas and his wife Francesca, Andrew and Ben, Rebecca and his great-grand­daughter Kate his sister Diana, his brother Victor, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.30am for Jesus of Nazareth parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

DEGIORGIO. BERNARD. In loving memory of a dear brother on the 30 th anniversary of his death. Fondly remembered by his brothers, sisters, in-laws and family.

FRENDO – ANTOINETTE, today the second anniversary of her passing on to eternal life. She now joins her beloved husband, George, who passed away 26 years ago. Both are deeply missed and fondly remembered by their son Fr George J. Frendo, daughters Maria, Joy, Elizabeth and her husband Gino Camilleri, Antoinette and her husband Joseph Camilleri, their grandchildren George Joseph, Malcolm George, Maria Chiara, Anthony John, Francis James and George Charles. Always cherished in our heart and mind.

ROSSI – ANTOINE, who departed this life 51 years ago. Always remembered by his wife Anne, sons, daughter, in-laws and family. May the Lord grant him eternal rest.

SCERRI – QUEENIE. A dear aunt, on the first anniversary of her demise. Fondly remembered by her niece Moira and her husband Freddy, their daughter Bernice and Caleb. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Mtarfa bypass closure

The Birkirkara Sports Club and the Malta Amateur Athletic Association are organising a five-kilometre run along Mtarfa bypass tomorrow and the road will be closed to traffic from 7pm to 9pm.

All traffic will be diverted through the Mtarfa centre.
