A verification exercise ordered by an Industrial Tribunal has confirmed that the majority of Bank of Valletta workers are GWU members, the union said.

The union regretted that the Malta Union of Bank Employees had 'made an issue' over trade union recognition, causing a five-month delay in  negotiations for a new collective agreement.

In a reaction, the MUBE said its position had always been to defend the
right of every worker to freedom of association to a union of his/her choice.  What is had done was the same as the GWU had done when it made similar verification requests in other companies.
