With a heavy heart I heard the sad news that my long-standing friend had passed away. Every person who got to know Teddie was enticed by his enthusiasm for life, sports and politics.

I got to know Teddie in the late 1970s and we remained friends all this time, becoming even closer when he and his wife Roselle came to live in Gozo for many years until recently returning to Malta.

Even when living in Gozo, Teddie crossed over to Malta almost every day to film or organise yachting activities or to perform his duties as the secretary of the Royal Yacht Club.

In Gozo he was quite active as well. He started to integrate within Gozitan society and film local habits, sports and historical information, sometimes asking me about the life Gozitans led.

The Borg family were good hosts and had guests regularly in their Mġarr apartment. Those were good times.

In his spare time, Teddie used to call me and together we’d go out to Victoria to have a drink and talk about almost everything, current and past events.

People recognised Teddie and crossed over to talk to him wherever he was. As the gentleman he always was, he was nice to everyone and respected views that differed from his own.

The latest initiative he strongly pushed forward was for there to be a protected area for yachts to berth.

I wish to remember my friend Teddie as he was – a tall, handsome-looking gentleman, full of enthusiasm for life, sports and politics.
