Around 50 international delegates participating in this year’s JCI European Conference rolled up their sleeves by getting into their trunks and bikinis and jumping into the sea at St George’s Bay during a two-hour clean-up exercise.

Under the supervision of the Malta Professional Diving School Association and with the help of the Vodafone Foundation, MSV Life and Wasteserv Malta Ltd, the volunteers collected bottles and cans from the seabed, and even stilettos and rusty deckchairs.

Through this event, the volunteers were able to appreciate the importance of conserving marine life and the negative impact of waste on the ecosystem.
