Fr David Farrugia has been appointed parish priest of Safi while Fr Anthony Cassar will serve as director of the ‘Dar tal-Kleru’ (the residence for elderly and sick priests) and parish priest of Mdina.

Born in 1979, Fr Farrugia was ordained to the priesthood in 2004. He commenced his pastoral work in Tarxien where he served for two years, including as vice-parish priest.

He was then appointed vice-parish priest of the Luqa parish and rector of Ħal Farruġ for four years.

He was also a spiritual director at St Benedict’s College - Boys Secondary School in Kirkop for six years.

During the past four years, Fr David has been serving as Chaplain of Junior College, Msida. He gas been based in Santa Luċija .

Fr Cassar was born in Siġġiewi in 1946 and was ordained priest in 1974.

He commenced his pastoral work in Siġġiewi parish and in the Social Action Movement and worked at the Missionary Office and the Office for the Clergy, Parishes and Religious Life, at the Archbishop’s Curia.

In 1983, he was appointed parish priest of Gharghur where he served for eight years, and in 1991 he was appointed parish priest of Christ the King parish, Paola.

In 1988 he was appointed parish priest of Zabbar and in 2003 of St Helen’s, Birkirkara.
