The intensive dance course Living Dance is back this September, bringing together dancers from different schools and backgrounds to collaborate and work together and share their experiences for a week.

The course is being offered to both residential and non-residential students from the age of 10 (adult). There will also be a junior course held for dancers aged 7 to 9.

Students are taught by an expert team of local and foreign teachers who help them find their passion for dance and be creative and healthy in a safe and nurturing environment. The course ends with a performance for parents.

A scholarship for a dance course in the UK will be awarded to the most promising dancer. Martina Casolani was given the Sharon Sapienza award during Living Dance 2013 and will be attending a summer course at the Royal Academy of Dance.

Last year, the number of local scholarships was increased to three, giving dancers Jillian Mallia, Julia Agius and Emma Goodwin scholarships to Living Dance 2014.

Living Dance 2014 will include intensive courses in ballet, repertoire, commercial jazz, hip hop, contemporary and musical theatre as well as other workshops. In addition to the resident faculty teachers, Emma Loftus, Douglas Comley and Sandra Mifsud, foreign guest tutor Sharon Johnston will also be joining.

Johnston has performed across the world and also starred in many popular musicals. After five years teaching worldwide, she is now based in Ireland. Johnston is also the recipient of the Grety Salomonsen Scholarship and The Rita Emmerson Award for her work within the Cecchetti Society.

Also re-joining the team is Warren Bonello, who studied bodywork in Cambridge, getting a Higher National diploma in performing arts and is known for his work on This is the Night, Club, Hypnotika and Il-Klikka.

Students choosing the residential option will have full board accommodation with home cooked meals and organised, on site evening activities. Lunch is included for non-residential students.

Living Dance 2014 will be held at Ta’ Sbejħa, Għarb, between September 9 and 14. For further information contact Christiane Borg Manché on 9942 4475 or send an e-mail to info@livingdancemalta.com.

Applications are available online or from The Dance Studio, Kappara and are open until June 30.
