Max Chilton has cleared the air with Marussia team-mate Jules Bianchi following their shunt in Canada which he concedes left him “upset” for a number of days.
Both men blamed the other for the lap-one accident that unfolded at the turn three-four chicane at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, which resulted in Bianchi smashing into one wall and Chilton another.
After initial words were exchanged in Canada, Chilton extended the hand of friendship at the Red Bull Ring yesterday ahead of this weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix.
Asked as to his relationship now with Bianchi, Chilton said: “Good. We had our incident. It was an accident. A lot of people said after the race ‘that’s racing’.
“I’ve been pretty good at avoiding things like that and everyone could see it was accidental on both parts, so we just have to draw a line in the sand and move on.”
