Inspire CEO Nathan Farrugia last night made it to his final destination in a  triathlon challenge that saw him run, swim and cycle across 666km from Corsica to Sardinia.

The Eurosport Ultra Med Challenge, as it has been named, is equivalent to three Ironman challenges.

Despite being struck down by severe dehydration after running160km in intense heat and having his dream of setting a new world record shattered, he was determined to finish what he started.

After resting for two days Mr Farrugia took off again on yesterday morning completing the next two legs of his challenge - a 15 kilometre swim across the Bonafacio Straits, and 445 kilometre cycle down the coast of Sardinia.

The first leg of the challenge was a 210 kilometre run across Corsica.

All funds raised will go to Inspire, a non-profit organisation that is at the forefront in providing therapeutic, education and leisure services to persons with disabilities in Malta and Gozo. A total of €40,000 have so far been raised.

To support this challenge, send an SMS with “Nathan’s Challenge” to 50617359 (€2.33), 50618080 (€4.66), 50618962 (€6.99) or 50619215 (€11.65).

Mr Farrugia returns to Malta at 12.15pm tomorrow.
