BUSUTTIL. On June14, at Mater Dei Hospital, VITTORINA (Victoria) née Calleja, aged 82, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved husband Victor, her children Lydia Libreri, Antoine and his wife Joanna, her grandchildren Lisa and her husband Chris Spiteri, Lara, Julian and Martina, her great-grandchildren Krista and Luke, her sister Maria Carbone, her brother John and his wife Winnie, her in-laws Evelyn and Catherine Calleja Urry, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2pm for St Peter’s parish church, Birżebbuġa where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery (upper gate). No flowers by request but donations to the Puttinu Cares Foundation, Mater Dei Hospital, will be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank all the staff at CCU, MAU 1 and IDU at Mater Dei Hospital, as well as the staff at the Żejtun Residential Home for their constant care and dedication. SULTANA. On June 14, at St Vincent de Paul Residence, ANTHONY, aged 86, of Marsa, residing in Attard, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Maria, his children Mary Anne and Mario Portelli, Grace and Tony Coleiro, Antoinette, Raymond and Suzanne, and Margaret and Jack Cilia, his grandchildren Mireille, Neil, Yanika, Daphne, Lara, Cleaven, Esther, Ann and Sarah, his great-grandchildren Kendria and Maya, his in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul Residence today at 2pm for Attard parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30pm followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. WIRTH. On June 15, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARY née Cassar Trigona, aged 87, beloved widow of Oliver, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her loving children Ian and his wife Christiane, Ann and her husband Gianfranco Selvaggi, Patrick and his wife Mariella, her grandchildren Andrea, Luca and Gianni, John, Elaine and Bernie, Louisa and Karl, and their spouses and partners, and her great-granddaughter Milu, her close and beloved sister Nellie Demajo Albanese, her devoted carer Ruby Briones, her in-laws Odette and Frances Cassar Trigona, Mollie Wirth, Yvonne Marich, Willie and Jolly Wirth, Laurie and Anna Wirth, Babs Cutugno, Monica Borg Testaferrata, Edgar and Nanette Wirth, Irene and Risette Wirth, Gladys Wirth , Ronnie Pace Decesare, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital at 9am on Wednesday for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetry. A Fourth of July dinner will be held at Haywharf Bistro and Clubhouse, Floriana at 8.30pm in aid of Butterfly Children, an associated member of Debra International. The event will include a raffle and an auction.

Cinema Digitisation Scheme

A second call for the Cinema Digitisation Scheme has been launched.

The scheme was announced in the last Budget to help cinemas switch to digital technology by partially funding the purchase of a digital projector and related equipment.

Through the first call, more than €340,000 of funding was approved, assisting five cinemas and 23 screens.

Applications for the second call are available on www.culture.gov.mt and have to be submitted by July 25 at the Culture Directorate, Auberge d’Italie, Merchants Street, Valletta.
