The events of Sette Giugno, the bread riots of June 7, 1919, were commemorated in Gozo. Wreaths were laid in front of the house in Bullara Street, Xagħra, where Ġużeppi Bajada, one of the four Maltese victims during the riots in Valletta, lived.

At Our Lady of Victories basilica in Xagħra, Archpriest Carmelo Refalo celebrated Mass animated by organist Mro Ivan Attard. Children from Gozo College Xagħra Primary also attended. Following Mass, a memorial monument was unveiled at the grounds of Villa Rundle, Victoria, by Mgr Joe Vella Gauci, Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to Malta for Unesco.

The monument was designed by Frank Cassar and executed in marble by Raymond Bonello. The monument lists the four Gozitans who took an active part in the riots.
