A nine-week self-defence course for women was held in Gozo by the Kempo Arnis Federation. The course was based on several habitual acts of physical violence women encounter in everyday life.
The programme comprised both theoretical and practical sessions, including verbal de-escalation skills, under-standing the criminal mindset, understanding the psychological and physiological effects of adrenaline, defence against punches, strangles, chokes and anti-rape techniques.
As a reality-based course, all participants went through circuit drills, performing techniques under physical and mental stress to prove that they can stay focused during the technique’s execution.
Certificates were presented to those successfully completing the course.
