• Today, Fontana parish celebrates the titular feast of the Sacred Heart with a pontifical concelebrated Mass led by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech at 9am with the participation of the Chorus Urbanus directed by Mro John Galea. Mgr Ruzario Borg leads solemn vespers at 6.30pm. The procession with the statue, accompanied by La Stella Band, starts at 7.30pm. The Santa Margerita V.M. and Ite ad Joseph bands will participate. The procession and feast end at around 10pm in the church square. Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament round off the liturgical celebrations.

• Masses at Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary will be said today at 6.15, 8.30, 10 and 11.15am and 5pm, followed by the recital of the rosary and Eucharistic benediction.

• The 3rd edition of the Sannat Motorfest will be held today at 9am in Sannat Square by the local council. The event, which will be in aid of Puttinu Cares, is open to all types of cars, trucks and motorbikes.

• Today is the closing date for applications for the Don Bosco Oratory Summer Club, Victoria, from July 5 to September 5. The application form may be downloaded from donboscogozo.org.

• Two books by retired UK doctor Daniel Nolan residing in Gozo will be launched on Wednesday at 7pm in the Citadel, Victoria, by Gozo Live. The Book of Tephi is an intriguing tale of the voyage of a Hebrew princess and the prophet Jeremiah across the Mediterranean to Ireland in 583 BC. This alternative history is drawn from ancient Irish writings. The second book is Clippers, an illustrated history of fast 19th-century sailing ships. All are welcome.

• Three courses to help participants reflect on their family and learn skills to develop more mature interpersonal relationships will be held in the first two weeks of July by the Gozo diocese’s Family Commission. • Bethel Charismatic Group will hold a prayer meeting on Satur­day at 7pm at MAS headquarters, Victoria.

• The Diocesan Eucharistic Movement will hold a prayer evening at the Cathedral church, Victoria, on Saturday at 8.30pm, followed by Mass at midnight.
