A group of 54 Grade 9 students from San Andrea School, L-Imselliet, together with their teachers, recently went on an educational day trip to Sicily.

In Syracuse, they visited the archaeological park, where they tried out the famous Ear of Dionysius, which amplifies echoes. They also visited the Greek and Roman amphitheatres.

At the Paolo Orsi Museum the students were intrigued by its intricate jewellery and coin collection, and saw some pottery exhibits found near Tarxien temples.

In Noto, the group saw the start of the annual Infiorata festivities. Peat was being laid out on the chalked designs in via Nicolaci, young sbandieratori were displaying their talents in the streets and people were dressed in period costumes. Some students also went up the church tower to get a bird’s eye view of the town.
