Are you interested in reducing the amount of water you consume and pay cheaper water bills without making significant changes to your quality of life?

This can be done for free and without the need for any physical interventions in your home by taking part in a research initiative that involves installing small fittings to your existing taps, toilet cisterns, and if need be, replacing your showerhead.

The project, sponsored by the University’s Faculty for the Built Environment and Malta International Airport, aims to contribute to safeguarding Malta’s water resources.

Malta is a water-stressed country as it lacks sufficient natural freshwater resources. In fact, around 57 per cent of the water consumed in Malta originates from reverse osmosis plants.

Over-extraction of groundwater makes the situation even more unsustainable. Malta needs to increase both the quantity and quality of its groundwater sources.

By participating in the project, people have the opportunity not only to consume less water but also help improve the sustainability of Malta’s water resources from the comfort of their homes.

Participants will also have the chance of winning a weekend break package.
