The Prime Minister had said that the President will be overseeing some functions from her former Ministry. The President now says, whoops, can’t actually do that under the law, we need to change the Constitution. She didn’t, and nor would I have expected her to have, acknowledge the fact that I had pointed out that little thing when she was appointed.

But what the hack, it was only words, if they kept the hoi polloi quiet at the time, then it was a job well done.

The Minister for Tourism or some functionary of high office under his purview had said that tickets for the Joseph Calleja concert last year would be free so that ‘we the people’ could get a dose of culture and have our brows raised.

The Minister of Finance now says, sorry, don’t know anything about that, what are you looking at me for, go get your money from somewhere else, why don’t you?

But what the hack, it was only words, if they kept the hoi polloi quiet at the time, then it was a job well done. The Ministry of Police, Catering and Telly has always said that members of the military have the right to have their rights protected, and in fact appointed some gentlemen of great probity and gravitas to do this little thing.

The Ombudsman now says, in a Judicial Protest, to boot, that the Minister and his Ministry are living up to this promise to about the same extent that an average teenager means it when he says he’ll clean up his room soon. But what the hack, it was only words, if they kept the hoi polloi quiet at the time, then it was a job well done.

Dr Joseph Muscat, current leader of the Labour Party, had said that a new page will be turned and only people of merit and worth will be appointed to publicly-funded office, irrespective of their political leanings, because Malta is everyone’s and anyone can work with us.

The people, with great respect and affection, are now saying "pull the other one, Joseph, it goes ding-dong, ding-dong”. And look, there’s a platoon of marines, go and tell it to them.

But what the hack, it was only words, if they kept the hoi polloi quiet at the time and hoovered up a few votes, then it was a job well done.
