A blanket prohibition on demolition and excavation works in tourist areas will enter into effect on Sunday and continue until September 30.

Planning Parliamentary Secretary Michael Falzon said this morning the initiative “Break time: creating tranquillity in summer” was aimed to strike a balance between two important sectors of the economy - construction and tourism.

A list of around 70 roads to be covered by the prohibition is to be made available later today. Two numbers people can call in case of breaches will also be made available.
