Middlesea Insurance recently opened its doors to a number of Ekoskola students from three schools, who conducted an environmental audit of the company’s premises.

During the initial visit, the students went around the offices, meeting rooms and other areas of Middle Sea House in Floriana, pointing out various environmental issues.

Following the audit, the students returned with a number of suggestions and proposed actions for Middlesea. Some of these suggestions included the use of more alternative energy, a project which the company is currently working on, the introduction of an environmental policy, as well as increasing the use of energy-saving light bulbs.

The schools involved in this initiative were San Ġorġ Preca Floriana Primary School, St Francis Secondary School, Sliema and St Albert the Great College, Valletta. The whole event was coordinated by Cynthia Caruana.

EkoSkola is an international, environmental management, certification and sustainable development education programme for schools.
