Six students from The Margaret Howard Theatre College in the UK joined students of the Malta Youth Ballet Foundation (MYBF) Diploma Course to participate in a week-long dance exchange.

Sessions were held at the MYBF studios in Qormi and dance training was led by the members of the foundation’s teaching faculty and guest teacher and examiner Vivienne Saxton.

The ballet foundation offers a two-year full-time dance course for talented dance students wishing to train at tertiary level.

These dancers follow a rigorous training programme created by the foundation to reach the level required to work within a dance company.

The full-time course includes classes in classical ballet, jazz dance, contemporary dance, dance improvisation, choreographic studies and dance performance. It also includes classes in musical appreciation, dance studies, make-up, health, body-conditioning, injury prevention and nutrition.

During the MYBF Diploma Course, students are regularly involved in student exchanges with dance institutions, such as The Margaret Howard Theatre College, which focuses on preparing students for a career within the performing arts.

Over the coming months, similar exchanges will take place between the MYBF and other institutions across Europe.

Applications for next year’s diploma course are now open. For more information, visit www.maltayouthballet.com or e-mail info@casabene.com.
