Cancer stem cells are thought to be the small population of cells in a tumour which are responsible for the regeneration of a cancer after chemotherapy. They are the cells thought to be most resistant to these therapies.

In an interview with Patricia Camilleri for University Matters on Campus FM 103.7, Dr Pierre Schembri Wismayer talks about his work in the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (Cost) consortium Stemchem, a collaboration between various cancer biologists and chemistry labs around Europe to generate therapies to target these cancer stem cells.
