Prime Minister Joseph Muscat this evening met the Labour Party’s new MEPs describing Alfred Sant, Miriam Dalli and Marlene Mizzi as a dynamic team.

He expressed “enormous satisfaction” that two thirds of the Maltese delegation was female and said that this was a sign of change within the Maltese society.

Dr Muscat also thanked all Labour candidates who took part in the elections and said the PL was proud that it was close to electing a Gozitan MEP.

He said he will meet the entire Maltese delegation in the coming days.

On the results across the EU, the Prime Minister said the electorate’s message was that they were not happy with the direction the EU was taking.

The EU should be closer to the people and focus on economic growth and creating jobs. He reiterated his call for a policy on migration.
