Have you ever stood in a showroom or flicked through web page after web page wondering which car you’d actually be happiest with? Here’s what 50,000 car owners in the UK think.

Weekly car magazine Auto Express has compiled a list of more than 50,000 car owners’ opinions of their own motors, and you might – or might not – be surprised at who gets top spot. So just what are the best cars to live with, according to British drivers?

10 – Kia Cee’d. The mid-sized Kia’s ever-improving reputation lands it a spot in the top 10. That unbeatable seven-year warranty helps make satisfied customers.

9 – BMW 1 Series. It’s the cheapest way to buy into the BMW brand and many thousands of people have done so. It looks to be keeping a smile on most owners’ faces at number nine.

8 – Renault Captur. After decades of abuse about French cars going wrong all the time, Renault will be delighted with the Captur’s eighth place. Its colourful personality has clearly won fans.

7 – Toyota Prius. The Prius’ blend of unique looks, environmentally-friendly running and Toyota reliability have seen it score an excellent seventh on the overall satisfaction chart.

6 – MG6. Yes, believe it or not, MG6 owners are extremely happy with their British-assembled motors. It might not be high quality, but it’s certainly a satisfying buy.

5 – Kia Rio. It feels like a bigger car, it’s quiet, smooth and feels ultra-solid on the inside. Owners are clearly finding a lot to like about the Rio as it makes the top five.

4 – BMW 5 Series. The latest 5 Series has been universally called the best yet, and its drivers are keen to agree. Comfort, reliability and desirability all feature as 5 Series strong suits.

3 – Skoda Superb. A superb result (sorry) for Skoda’s biggest car, netting third place overall. It’s big, it’s great value and it’s as comfortable as an old boot. Its owners love it.

2 – Skoda Citigo. Just missing out on the top spot is another Skoda, this time the brand’s smallest car. The brilliant Citigo makes mincemeat of the urban sprawl and offers big-car feel for little-car money.

1 – Skoda Yeti. And would you believe it, the Yeti is, at it has been for the last two years as well, the UK’s most satisfying car to own. A brilliant performance to cap a 1-2-3 for Skoda.
