A blood donation session was held at the Gozo General Hospital Outpatients Department. Among the donors was a group of 16 people organised by Nicolanne Portelli. She had recently needed 16 units of blood herself and became very aware of the challenge to cope with the constant demand for blood. She is seen with staff nurse Antoine Pace, Anne Marie Borg Marks, Michelle Said, Valerie Said and deputy manager blood donation Alexander Lautier. To thank the donors Ms Portelli prepared and distributed sweet savouries at the session. Another group from the Precursor Band Club of Xewkija also donated blood during the session as part of celebrations marking the band’s 85th anniversary. The donors encouraged others to follow their example.
