The Aquatic Sport Association of Malta (ASA) announced the appointment of Karl Galea as the new acting vice president for waterpolo.

Galea has deep roots in water sport administration following several years in the Sliema ASC committee.

He was also involved in the organisation of the European Under-19 qualifying tournament earlier this month having accepted an invitation to assist in the competition by ASA president Joe Caruana Curran.

No nominations

Following a call for nominations to the post of vice president and the cancellation of a purposely called extraordinary general meeting because no applications had been received, Galea was approached to fill in the post.

He accepted and his appointment was confirmed at the close of an ASA general meeting earlier this week.

Galea will serve in his role until the next annual general meeting that is scheduled for November whereupon a fresh call for nominations to the post will be issued.
