Reacting to the PN's little stunt with the sticker album, in a statement, the Labour Party said that while the Opposition leader and the Nationalist Party were distributing albums, the Labour government was giving Maltese and Gozitan families cheaper bills, returning the extra money paid on car registration, providing free childcare and a number of other measures which were leaving families with more money in their pockets.

This, the Labour Party said, was the difference people had to remember on Saturday, though to my mind the difference is between shopping at somewhere like Lidl, where quality and choice are sacrificed on the altar of cheap gratification, and buying decent brands.

Let's point out a few more differences, shall we?

How about the difference between a government that generated wealth and created jobs, as distinct from one which hands out dollops of our cash?

Note, please, it's our cash, not Joseph Muscat's, he's busy raking it in leasing his own car to his Government, and probably getting a refund cheque for the VAT or whatever, out of our money.

How about the difference between a government that gained the admiration of the respectable part of the world in its handling of the Libyan crisis, as opposed to one that first made everyone squirm with the idea of selling our citizenship, then managed to persuade the EU that it wasn't so bad after all but still, as of my writing this, hasn't published the details of the contract?

How about the difference between a party, that was in government and is made up of people who take a stand, as opposed to one, that is in government and whose exponents think nothing of sucking up to the hunting lobby in a transparent attempt to suck up a few votes, the only instance I can think of when the word transparent can be used with this bunch?

How about the difference between a government that is led by a Prime Minister who lionises a convicted criminal and who undermines the rule of law to one that was led by a Prime Minister that did no such thing, ever?

Go out and vote on Saturday and remember the differences or don't, but at least spare us the sight and sound of crow being eaten, as it was mere days ago when it was admitted in print that the "Piano Project" is, in fact, pretty astounding, for all the whining and whinging that had come from certain quarters before the elections.
