Although one of the trust’s main aims is to raise funds for University research, its long-term goal is to entice students to develop a greater sense of belonging when they enrol in University. Cachia says the aim is for students to feel that by helping fund or promote a cause or a research project undertaken by the RIDT or external research organisations, they start to view their academic experience not as a three- or a five-year course but as a lifelong commitment.
