An Air Malta plane from Frankfurt landed safely on Sunday despite being unable to deploy its flaps. Sources said the pilot informed the control tower the flaps would not open as the plane was preparing to land. He also told the passengers. An Air Malta spokesman said the airline’s crew were trained for such eventualities.

The aircraft went in for servicing and operated normally yesterday.
