The foundation module of the KMS Skolasport programme, sponsored by Kellogg’s, gives children aged four to six the opportunity to enjoy physical exercise and learn basic skills.

A popular class is Fun Athletics, designed to encourage kids to foster social, intellectual and physical development.

Ruth Borg Thompson, the coach of the six-year-old groups at Maria Regina Boys Secondary School in Mosta, said that, thanks to the training provided, the children become more co-ordinated, learn to wait and share and are very helpful with each other.

“Getting a child involved in physical exercise at a young age is one of the best things a parent can do to establish a lifetime of healthy activity,” Borg Thompson said.

“The programme helps the children to learn new skills which will help them to choose their favourite sport and practise it more seriously.”
