Brian Galea was the best marksman in the Greener Cup Trap selection shoot hosted by the Malta Shooting Sport Federation at their premises in Bidnija, yesterday.

The event is part of a series of shoots to pick two Trap competitors for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, this summer.

The Greener Cup was on 125 clays with the best six to qualify for the semi-finals on 15 clays and the medal match on the same number of targets.

Galea, who smashed two 25s in the competition, was joint first with 115 points in the qualifying and followed that with a double 13 in the shoot-offs.

The runner-up was Mario Zammit who had a first-round score of 109. He had 12 points in the semi-finals and 10 in the final.

Another straight was targeted by Alvin Vella, the third-placed shooter in the overall ranking after winning a shoot-off with Jason J. Aquilina.

Meanwhile, Double Trap shooter William Chetcuti will be representing the country at the World Cup shoot in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on Wednesday.

Chetcuti will be assisted by coach Jimmy Bugeja.
