Opposition leader Simon Busuttil this evening called on the Parliament's public Accounts Committee to "immediately" publish the contract which government awarded to Henley and Partners to administer the citizenship scheme.

He was reacting to a ruling by Speaker Anglu Farrugia that the PAC may ask the government to produce the contract. The speaker sent the issue to the PAC.

"We expect it (the PAC) to do what is expected from it and immediately publish the contract,"  Dr Busuttil said while campaigning in Senglea for the European Parliament elections.

He said  that government's reluctance to publish the contract - claiming it was stopped by the court - raised suspicions about the relationship between government and Henley and Partners.

He said the Opposition would also continue to insist on the publication of the contract for the new power station .

In his address, Dr Busuttil said it appeared that Prime Minister Joseph Muscat was in politics to serve himself and those in the Labour party's inner core.

"It seems that the Prime Minister is in politics, not to serve, but for himself. It's always about him. He always thinks of himself and those in the inner core. I am not in politics for myself," he said as he noted that Dr Muscat had said that the MEP elections were about the two party leaders.

As he urged people to vote for all the PN candidates, he reiterated that the PN was starting from a 36,000 vote disadvantage. But it would not give up and it would retain the realistic goal of electing a third seat.
