A new independent local game development hub has been launched with the aim of becoming a focal point for all the stakeholders in the exciting new area in digital media.

The site was created by Simon Cutajar, a qualified Maltese games developer with local and foreign work experience in this field, and is accessible at www.gamedev.com.mt

“The idea behind the website is to unite the local scene and make it much more visible to everybody involved,” explained Mr Cutajar.

“We provide a central list where people can search for companies, organisations, educational institutes, job opportunities as well as actual games created in the Maltese islands. Collecting all these different aspects of the local industry in one place allows it to be more visible and makes it easier for others to see what is going on. This will hopefully encourage investors, who will see a growing industry, as well as local talent, who will realise that their dream is something that can be made real with lots of hard work.”

The site was officially launched last week with the support of the Institute for Digital Games at the University of Malta.
