The Nationalist Party said today that the people were still awaiting an explanation by the government on the signing of the power station contract with Electrogas.

Times of Malta revealed on Monday that the agreement was signed behind closed doors on Friday.

In a statement, the PN said that that during the television programme Reporter on Monday, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat first said that the agreement 'will be signed' but then said that the agreement still had to be published.

The people were still awaiting the facts about the agreement, the PN said.

If the prime minister could 'lie' on such matters, one could only wonder how comfortable he would be to 'lie' to hide bigger things.

In a reply the Labour Party said that Opposition leader Simon Busuttil and the Nationalist Party could not accept the fact that the Labour government had not just reduced rates but was also on track regarding the gas operated power station.

This, the PL said, was what interested families. It interested them that the contract was signed and that the process was proceeding as promised.
