The Malta Film Commission recently kick started its new approach with a series of incentives for the industry from upgrading the cash rebates up to 27% to film makers. It launched the co-production equity fund, introduced a writer’s grant and revised the mechanism of the development fund as part of the Malta Film Fund.
"The strategy is one that will strengthen our position and attractiveness with film makers with the prime aim of bringing more films to our island," the commission said.
The commission has also been participating in various film festivals in Berlin, Russia, Paris, Hong Kong and Beijing. Meetings at the Cannes Film Festival are already lined up.
