Floriana Basketball Club yesterday announced that coach Chris-toph Stolp will again be leading the team next season in the MBA Division One league.

The club said they had reached an agreement with Stolp to carry on with his head coach duties for the ‘coming seasons’ without re-vealing the duration of his new contract.

The former Luxol women’s team coach was first engaged by the Greens in summer of 2013 to work on youth basketball camps, school visits and club promotion before taking over the first team on interim basis in December following the departure of former coach Paul Ferrante who had led the side to their first league title in 2012-13.

“Coach Stolp’s duties will include full technical management of the senior men’s team, development of the boys’ youth sector and also overall technical supervision of the club in all competitions,” a Floriana BC statement said.

“We would like to wish coach Stolp the best for his work with the club.”

Meanwhile, Floriana BC also re-vealed that Nikola Vasovic will be playing for them next season.

Vasovic, one of the most influential players in the MBA league, joins Floriana after seven seasons with Luxol with whom he won various honours including the 2013-14 Louis Borg Cup and the U-23 championship.

Vasovic was also part of the Luxol team that made it to the MBA play-offs final last season, losing 3-2 to champions Athleta A-Z Electronics in the best-of-five series.
