Air Malta passengers may experience some inconvenience this weekend as the airline upgrades its online and mobile check-in facilities.

Due to this upgrade, which started at 9pm last night and finishes at noon today, all passengers booked to travel today with flights departing before noon will not be able to use web or mobile check-in. Flights departing this afternoon may also be impacted.

The changes aim to make the process faster, easier, and more user-friendly. Passengers will be able to check in on their smartphones up to one hour before the scheduled flight departure time, or up to two hours before if using web check-in through www.airmalta.com.

Smart phone users will be able to check in more than one person using the same device and send their boarding pass to more than one e-mail address.

Web check-in users will be able to print boarding passes on one A4 sheet, reducing paper wastage.

Passengers using these services can check in for flights 24 hours before departure, choose their seat and receive their bar-coded boarding pass immediately.

Web and mobile check-in allows passengers to save time and avoid airport queues while giving passengers added flexibility in being able to complete the airport formalities from home or office.

Air Malta offers web and mobile check-in from/to Athens, Catania, Geneva, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Malta, Manchester, Moscow Domodedovo, Moscow Sheremetyevo, Sofia and Zurich.

See www.airmalta.com/information/check-in for more details.
