Trinity College London recently held its local annual distinction concerts and presentation of prizes and diplomas.

Due to the high number of candidates sitting for Trinity exams, four concerts had to be held, three at St Aloysius’ College theatre hall, Birkirkara and one at the Gozo Ministry exhibition hall, Victoria. The number of candidates in the Nov/Dec 2013 session was double that of the May/June 2013 session due to the successful new rock and pop syllabus introduced in Malta last year.

Apart from candidates who sang pop songs and played electric guitar, there were also performances on piano, brass and percussion, classical singing and guitar, thus offering the audience a varied and interesting programme. The high marks achievers in Gozo gave performances of classical music, mostly on piano and some on drums.

Carla Galea, Diana Cini, Matthew Azzopardi, Marisa Galea, Annaliese Micallef Grimaud, Luca Zerafa and Maria Mifsud received their Associateship diploma from Trinity College London (with distinction) in piano.

Mario Vella Cordina, Mark Zerafa and Bernard Paul Spiteri obtained their ATCL in drum kit.

Jason Frank Camilleri obtained LTCL in trumpet.

Michael Camilleri achieved the prestigious FTCL diploma in drum kit.

Mariella Spiteri Cefai obtained the diploma A. Mus. TCL.

Luke Vella, Rebekah Chetcuti and Michaela Mifsud received an exhibition award from Trinity College for obtaining the highest marks in Europe and the Mediterranean.

Former local Trinity representative Philip Chircop distributed the prizes and awards in Malta. In Gozo, the awards were presented by Grazio Mercieca, chief of staff at the Gozo Ministry.

The concerts were organised for the first time by the college’s new local representative Dorselle Mifsud Bonnici on behalf of Mediterranean Music Centre.
