As from today until Sunday, the Aquatic Sport Association of Malta (ASA) will be hosting a qualifying tournament from the European Under-19 Championship at the National Pool in Tal-Qroqq.

The teams in this early phase of the championship were divided in two sections, with Malta and France being the organisers of the qualifiers and ensuing classification matches this week.

In Group A1, Malta were paired with Great Britain and Greece. Group A2 comprises Israel, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine.

Seven other teams will be playing in La Rochelle, France.

Turkey, Belarus and the Netherlands are in Group B1. Group B2 is made up of Germany, France, Slovenia and Portugal.

Matches at Tal-Qroqq will be played in the morning, afternoon and evening.

Malta Under-19, under the charge of Anthony Farrugia, will start their commitments with a double header tomorrow.

They face Great Britain at 1pm and Greece at 7.30pm.

Inter-group matches will follow on Friday and Saturday, with three matches in programme on each day.

Losers and winners of the respective semi-finals will meet each other for the first three placings in Group A.

Today: 6pm Greece vs Great Britain; 7.30pm Romania vs Israel; 9pm Ukraine vs Slovakia.
Tomorrow: 10am Slovakia vs Romania; 11.30pm Israel vs Ukraine; 1pm Malta vs Great Britain; 6pm Romania vs Ukraine; 7.30pm Greece vs Malta; 9pm Slovakia vs Israel.
