Steps are afoot at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to save Ukrainians having to go to Moscow to apply for visas to Malta. But the recent developments in the country have somewhat slowed down the process.

Foreign Minister George Vella was answering a parliamentary question by opposition MP Carm Mifsud Bonnici, who had asked what arrangements had been made for Ukrainian citizens in Malta to apply for a visa.

Dr Vella said it was not clear why Dr Mifsud Bonnici had asked this. Ukrainian people who were in Malta already had visas.

With Ukrainians always having had to apply for visas to Malta through Moscow, there was no reason why people in Crimea should have problems.
