Gozo College primary school in Victoria recently celebrated World Book Day with storytelling sessions, a reading and writing workshop and health and safety education through storytelling.

Activities also included music and singing, with Adam Refalo of Year 6 playing the violin, Daphne Delicata playing the piano and Abigail Pace singing Close Every Door.

Visiting the event, Gozo Minister Anton Refalo stressed the importance of reading for students’ education and to reduce illiteracy. He praised the school teachers for the initiative to celebrate World Book Day and for promoting reading and learning. He also presented books to students and staff, including the Doris Vella Award to Year 6 student Jasmine Grech. He later presented 70 books to the Gozo General Library, Victoria.
