Atse Herrera Johnson and Josann Attard Pulis won the 39th edition of the Gozo half marathon held last Sunday by the Gozo Amateur Atheletic Club.

More than 440 athletes from 16 countries took part.

The first Gozitan to complete the 13.1 mile/21.08km-marathon was Stefan Mizzi. Apart from the half marathon, participants could also enter the eight-mile, the four-kilometre, the two-kilometre, the fun run or the 13.1-mile bike race.

Jonathan Balzan won the eight-mile race while the first female athlete was Doreen Camilleri.

The first Gozitan male and female winners were Charlton Debono and Jaclyn Magrin.

The bike race was won by Kevin Muscat, followed by Josef Vella and Silvio Grima.

The marathon was organised with the collaboration of the Xagħra Youth Centre and Xagħra council.
