The latest edition of the Entomology Bulletin includes details and photos 17 different species of dragonflies and damselflies that are native to the Maltese islands, including one species that has never before been recorded in Maltese publications.
During a presentation of the recently published edition to various entities, local entomologist Godwin Degabriele explained the wonderful diversity of dragonflies and damselflies that enrich the Maltese countryside. His presentation included photos showing the anatomy and behaviour of various insects including hawkers, emperors, skimmers and darters.
The event was hosted by Ġan Franġisk Abela Junior College and supported by Bank of Valletta.
BOV manager media and community relations John Paul Abela said the bank’s support for the Entomological Society of Malta is aimed at raising awareness and disseminating information about the islands’ biodiversity.
