Paola-based FIN has introduced a smart device that integrates the functions of a programmable logic control (PLC) and a human machine interface in a portable, heavy-duty housing.

Named iControl, the device has industrial as well as teaching applications for computer engineering students or machine-interface aficionados, the company said.

The device converts software commands into hardware processes and is necessary for any application that requires the specialised programming of a process and the conversion of software commands into machine activity.

Through pre-set hardware inputs and outputs, the kit allows an almost infinite number of combinations of input commands and outputs to machine devices (such as sensors, valves and relays) to be applied.

User-friendly editing software from Delta Electronics, used to control large processes, is included in the kit.
