The Nationalist Party has breached an agreement reached between political parties for campaigning to stop today because of the canonisation of Popes John XXIII and John Paul II, the Labour Party said this afternoon.

It said it no wonder it deed not keep its promises with the people on much bigger issues.

PN leader Simon Busuttil this morning addressed a news conference to mark the launch of the PN's campaign for the elections in a number of hamlets.

The Labour Party said parties confirmed the agreement on Friday. It said it was a shame that the Nationalist Party played such games and this continued to confirm that it could not be taken seriously.

The party said it will continue with its campaign tomorrow.

The PN, however, denied the accusation and said the agreement was for Sunday dialogue meetings not to be held.

It said that its activity today was a presentation of candidates for the hamlet administration committees, an activity that was only open to the media.

The PN said it had to note the hypocrisy of a political party that at one point wanted to be the promoter of separation between state and church affairs but at the same time wanted to stop political activities because of a religion activity.
